Toronto knitwear designer Norma Lepofsky was well known in the 1980s,Norma’s distinct knit creations were made by hand in a chic Toronto boutique and exported to many boutiques in the US and Japan.
They cost hundreds of dollars in the day.
These joyfully detailed knits are revered by vintage collectors around the world. This long coat is particularly unique, it’s shape recalls the early 20th century designs of Paul Poiret with its bold sleeve and tapering body. The panelled sections of mohair and suede are linked by incredible cabled rope yarn, finished with a shawl collar and futuristic brass hardware. The level of skill these knit embody is made all the more enticing by their exuberant styling and grand shapes.
