American designer Adele Simpson, known for simple, wearable designs for mature, affluent clients, generally favoured natural fibres, like cotton and silk, and would refine design trends to suit her high profile clientele - as evident by the BONWIT TELLER tag, an American luxury department store.
This 1960's coat-dress exemplifies this. Lined in sumptuous cream silk charmeuse, with an optical, graphic brocade woven print reminiscent of Op Art, the garment itself is easy - a three quarter length concealed zip front means the wearer can quickly step into the dress. Two large front patch pockets emphasize the priority of practical design.
